I have a question
Is there a search area to go to to determine I am in the correct year as there are multiple time ranges listed? I was chasing the August 1827 death of Giovanna you mentioned above
You find items so quickly
Do you have any tips on searching. I try to find the indices but i am not sure i find them all.
Thanks

Hopefully the following will help with your search. This info is from the list of attachments recorded on the base of the second page and the top of the third page of the Marriage Record. Hopefully someone will check over the dates of the events because the script is a bit tricky in places. All these documents will be in Latin, often with lots of abbreviations. Church Records often don’t have a lot of information included. It all depends on what the Priest decided to write. There should be an index at the beginning of each year or sometimes the indices will be grouped in years. Generally the given names are written in Latin

Birth Act of the Groom – Francesco Sorce (born c.1802) (Baptism Record)
Birth Act of the Bride - Rosa Maria La Mattina (born c.1807) (Baptism Record)

Death Act of the father of the groom – Salvadore Sorce - 5 October 1795
Death Act of the Mother of the Groom – Giovanna Calleri - ? August 1827
Death Act of the paternal grandfather of the groom – ? Sorce - 24 June 1818
Death Act of the father of the bride – Tommaso La Mattina - 7 February 1809
Death Act of the paternal grandfather of the bride – ? La Mattina - 30? September 1789???

The year should be written at the top of the page of the registry. I think it was the top right corner. The index should be at beginning of each year. I had a look at the films earlier to see how they were set up. Family Search kept timing out and redirecting me to another page so I didn't get very far. I'll take another look to make sure. Giovanna will be written with either a J or an I at the beginning - Joanna, Ioanna or similar.

The 1827 Death Records are on line. I checked the index and there wasn't a death record there for her so I may have misread the entry on the marriage record. You could have a look at 1828 though because it's those civil death records that are missing.

salvadore -- death is 1795 from above but son is born in 1803-- that can't be correct?

This is true :? They must have pulled out the wrong record or I have misread?

Hi again

I took a break and then came back to this.

My thinking is that they have confused the death records. The 1818 death record is the Death Record belonging to the father of the groom while the 1795 death record belongs to the grandfather of the groom.

Francesco was married previously and I’m pretty sure the following 1825 Marriage Record is his first marriage, which confirms my thinking above. (Unfortunately there were no indices for this year and the script is really hard to decipher but I'm 99% sure its the correct record. I checked all the other indices that were available for the relevant years.)

Marriage 9: Francesco Sorce and Francesca Paola ?

It’s late here now and I have a meeting in the morning so the best thing would be to post this marriage record on our translations forum and get someone else's opinion.

Take care.

I know what you are saying re Paolo not fitting in.

Here is a related thread: https://www.italiangenealogy.com/forum/topic/55818

It included Francesco's first wife's Death Record which Tessa kindly found. It gives her name as Anna Riino.

You have a fantastic day too.

Here's the translation for Anna Riino's Death Record:

I've had time this afternoon to translate the marriage record which I found for Francesco Sorce and Francesca Paola Rinni.

On the next page of that promessa, it has the dates of death of the father and grandfather of the groom: 24 Jun 1818 and 4 Oct 1795, respectively. (So the groom' father was in fact deceased.) The bride's father died on 19 Sep 1817 or 1812.

That given name for the groom is a tough one. It doesn't completely look like Francesco. The first letter doesn't match the F in the bride's name, the middle letter looks like a g instead of a c, and then it looks like there is another name after it before the Sorce.

Thank you much.. i am guessing this is an incorrect record as the death in 1795 is prior to the birth of the son born in 1803 and cannot be.
Onward to finding the correct record.
Thanks again.
