Missing Pages?

Post by delfgill »

Hi,

Can someone please confirm that the register of births for 1817 is missing pages? Specifically, it's missing documents dated after 19 Sep 1817.

Many thanks!

Yes it only goes up to 19 September Act No 190, yet there were over 331 deaths that year. It looks like they ran out of pages for that year so there should be a Supplementary Book/Part II somewhere, or maybe they missed filming it. You could maybe try writing to the town if you know what you are looking for. They should have the supplementary book.

Thanks. If I don't find a supplementary book, I'll contact the town.

Another option would be, if the person whose record you are looking for, was married with children, you may find that person's death record amongst the childrens marriage attachments (allegati/processetti).

Best to you with this.

Yes, I tried looking through the marriage records. Unfortunately, the processetti for the years 1820-1830 are unavailable. I don't know if she had children who married after 1830, but will take a look. Thanks :)

p.s., the death index shows the decedant was from Marsico so I checked their death records as well, but didn't find it.

What was her name?

(BTW The towns Marsico Nuovo and Marsicovetere exist in Potenza which you may already know.) I guess you could look in the diversi for each of those towns as well. They usually have a section for "out of town deaths" but if she had lived away from her birth town for many years, I'd say her death record would be in that 1817 Deaths Supplementary Book which hasn't been filmed.)

Maria Votta, she passed away on 23 September:

I hadn't thought of Marsicovetere! But I just checked and nothing. No Diversi for 1817 in Marsico Nuovo or Marsicovetere.

In case you do write away for her death record, check the date, I read 23 December (Xmber)?

Thank you! I went back and forth wondering if it was a 7 or an X. I was hoping Family Search might have additional records but they don't.

Yes, entry No 227 is clearly xmbre.

Well at least from the index you have her date of death, town of birth and father’s name – Egilio? Is that right. It doesn’t confirm her husband’s name or mother’s name nor the Death Act No. Hopefully the town will send you a photocopy of the Act. (Ask for a "copia integrale".)

Her father was "Egidio". I have info about her husband and children, which should help when requesting the record.

Thanks again.

Oh yes, now that I take another look it probably is Egidio. The lower part of the "d" has faded so it looks like an "l".

Happy to help and all the best requesting that record.
