This box ad in the 1940 NYT has a section "Report to Medical Office" for selected firemen in NYC.
Does anyone know if this was routine procedure or something specific to the person's own medical condition?

I just found a later ad which clarifies the reason for being directed to report to the Medical Office - physical examination for fitness to operate equipment. It sounds routine.
