U.S. Navy

Post by darkerhorse »

Other than the usual genealogy sites, where's a good place online to search for military records for the U.S. Navy?

NARA is always a decent place to start...

Looking for unique ways to explore family history? I found local historical societies invaluable! Have you tried them? I volunteered at mine and uncovered incredible stories and documents unavailable online.

Struggling to find military records beyond Ancestry.com? I had luck with the National Archives website. I found my grandfather's WWII enlistment papers there, detailing his unit and decorations. Have you tried searching there? It's free, though digitization is ongoing.
