Help with Baptismal for a Briganti

Post by italian059 »

Would someone please translate this record. It is for a Briganti. Third record from the bottom on the left hand side. Is this for a boy or girl? Not sure if it is Paolo or Paola. Thanks so much.

Die 14 ejusdem
Ego Sacerdos D. Luca Lanza Coadiutor baptizavi sub conditione, quia baptizatus fuit ab obstetrice domi, Paulum Serafinum et Joannem filium Antonini et Josephae Briganti et Cella natum die 12 ejusdem hora 7 noctis circiter. Patrini fuere Jacobus di Puma et Anna Maria uxor Joannis Murdollo.

14 October 1731
Paolo Serafino and Giovanni Briganti, son of Antonino and Giuseppa Cella, born on 12 October 1731 at around 7 o'clock in the evening, was baptised on the 14th under condition, because he had already been baptised at home by the midwife. His godparents were Giacomo di Puma and Anna Maria, wife of Giovanni Murdollo.

Mundello in this record, not Murdollo, currently Mondello in Corleone.

Mary

One son with 3 “first” names. Assuming he lived beyond his baptism date, he might be found in subsequent records with any, if not all, of those 3 “first” names. In the U.S., we would consider the second and third names as”middle” names.
