LOOKING FOR "FORINI" RELATIVES IN ARGENTINA

Post by VMM »

Hello everybody, my great uncle Clino (or Clivio or Lino) Placido FORINI, born on 24 January 1902 in PONNA in the province of COMO in ITALY, settled very early in Argentina.
I couldn't find his name on the ship passengers lists available online but I know for sure that he was already in Argentina (Buenos Aires ?) in 1924.
I was said he got married in Argentina, had at least a daughter, and probably died there.
As my many investigations haven't proved to be successful up to now, I wonder if anybody could help me in this resarch.
Many thanks in advance!

Ciao,

You're right to doubt the correct name.
The title says Clino, and in the act itself it says Clivio.
I'm posting the link for reference:

Was he the only one of his family who emigrated to Argentina?

Hi, thank you for your prompt reaction.
All I know is that the name used by the family was LINO (none of the names registered in the birth certificate!) .
Regarding the reasons why he went to Argentina, I cannot say whether some relatives or friends were already there or whether he simply tried to take chances to make his life better.
It would be interesting to have access to Argentinian lists of immigrants, but I'm in need of some advice...
Thanks in advance for any idea you'd like to share with me.

Many many years ago, I was searching for info about the older sister of my grandfather who had gone to Argentina with their first born child to meet up with her husband who was already there. I found 12 families with her husband’s surname in an online Argentina white pages telephone book. Another cousin then had a friend translate a letter into Spanish and sent the letter to all 12 families with the surname. We found the descendants of my grandfather’s sister who even had the same photo we had of my grandfather’s mother. So, if you’ve exhausted other resources, you may want to try something like this. Maybe you’ll get lucky too.

Good luck.
