I have an ancestor that is translated as Ippolito versus Girolamo/Hypernonimaus {sp}
Are they the same as in language differences only?
Best,

Re: name variations
Ippolito and Girolamo (Hyeronimus) are different names.
Can you post the records where you found that?

Re: name variations
The only commonality I know of between the names Hippolytus and Hieronymous is their Greek origin. Otherwise, as Pippo pointed out, they are two different names. If you search both on the internet, you’ll learn the specific differences between the two names.

Thank you Pippo,
I went back to the translations and can see the names more clearly.
Thank you Erudita,
I will research- i like understanding where names come from. it makes me feel closer somehow as i look at life choices and how it might connect to culture at that time.
Best to both
i appreciate your positive difference to my tree
