Caraffa

Post by Caraffa »

I am looking for information on grandparents:

Dominic Caraffa, married to Mary Pietrosemoli.

Mary born in 1893. Both from Abuzzi. Emigrated to U.S. maybe in 1915-1920. Settled in Philadelphia.

This is all I know.

Does anyone have any information? Thanks.

There are a few records I found of a Caraffa family in Philadelelphia but I just want to confirm something before I post them. Could your grandfather have gone by the name of Anthony...as in Domenicantonio?

Nonna,

Do you want me to link the census or do you have it covered?

Possible WWII Draft Registration?? Birth year & place of birth is off from the census record.

U.S. World War II Draft Registration Cards, 1942 Record
about Dominic Caraffe
Name: Dominic Caraffe
Birth Date: 13 Mar 1894
Residence: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Birth: Italy
Roll: WW2_2243878
Note regarding the images for the states of PA, MD, VT, and DE. These four states were scanned at the National Archives facility in such a way that the back of one person’s draft card appears on the same image as the front of the next individual. The result is that when you click to view the original image, you will see the correct front side of the draft card, but the back of the previous soldier’s card. Ancestry is aware of this problem, and is working quickly to correct this issue.

No problem Nonna..I know what its like to have the hubby around! I put hubby and the kids to work today and finally they are doing something around here. It only happens a few times a year so I'm enjoying it very much!

I linked the images before I read your reply and hopefully our friend can confirm your find.

Look forward to your email...you know where I am!

I can't figure out how to send replies to individuals, so I hope this gets to NUCCIA and JCSM400. (I'm new at this.)

Thanks to you both for the information. It's very informative and exciting. Yes, the family is correct, the children's name are right. I don't know if Dominic used Anthony, I doubt it.

I knew my grandmother, Mary, and my father, Albert, but that's it. And, both died when I was very young. So I never got to ask for any family information.

Going back to the 1500s I find many cardinals and one Pope (Paul IV) in 1555. What I'd like to do is follow the links from back then to today. Is that even possible?

Thank you for your help. I'm so glad I found ItalianGeneology.com.

Caraffa ...

To send a reply to a single individual, you can use the Private Message option (The picture of the two little heads at the bottom of each individual's message that says PM - private message) ...

Got your message so don't worry...but Bob has also given you another way of communicating with members. For myself, either way is fine but I usually only answer most questions here...unless they are private questions or unrelated to the post. :D :D

If you want to trace someone usually you start from the present and work backwards..much easier.

I will answer your questions once I find my glasses (not even sure I'm reading this correctly)

I also happened to sprain two of my fingers which is making typing difficult right now.

Will be back a bit later...hubbys home...AGAIN!
