I need to have a close look at these records but I've been looking at the age of Joseph/Giuseppe Lise because I do know that William Anthony Lise (B 1913)'s mother Josephine Toia got married around 1912/1913 when she was 18(said so somewhere in census 1920 and/or 1930). So her husband should be above the legal minimum age for a marriage (I wonder if it was 16 yrs old or 18yrs old) and I guess it's not so common to have a younger husband either? This is probably too much assumptions ... ?

The Joseph above in New Jersey is 3 yrs old at 1900 so in 1912/3 he'd be 15/6 yrs old ...

Hmmm I'll have a look at the census carefully Maria. Thanks for posting it! It could be it and may give us more clues too.

You are right wldspirit! I am actually summarising the facts at the moment from the documents I have traced back from birth certificates, marriage records etc.

I have emailed you the information regarding your grandfarther you also happenns to be my grand farther, search Harry Lise , you will find Harry married your grandmother and had 3 children, harry then changed name to Harry loise married Lottie loise and had seven more children one of which was my dad. I have been finding more and more each day. I would be interesting to see if there is a family resemblince, I do not beleive my dad ever knew he had half brothers and sisters.

I only stumbled across this post after flicking through old photographs of my great grandfather Joseph Lise who was said to have left the family mysteriously -- crazy world how we connect via the internet! I sent you a private message Mike: )

I do believe this is my family. My grandfather is Albert Loise son of Joseph Lise and Lottie masters. If you can find out any more information that would be wonderful.

I am also part of the Loise/Lise family. My dad was Albert Loise, son of Harry Loise/Lise and Lottie Masters. Would love any and all info, pics, etc. I also do not believe that my father knew of the "disappearance" of his father Harry or the exsistance of half brothers or sisters...I remember being told that our surname Loise had been Lise years ago but that when my Dad's father went in military the military messed up and added the O to Lise and it stayed that way ever since.

Please contact me with any info??

Thanks in advance!

It has been almost 10 years since I last spent hours on end researching my family tree. I'm considering to follow the path of applying for Italian citizenship as the likelihood of my great grandfather (Harry Joseph/Giuseppe Lise/Loise) having naturalized before my grandfather was born is a 50/50 chance.

Any info or useful online tools I can use to locate naturalization records?
It seems that really I have to go to national archives ... But perhaps some of you may have ideas and tipsy I could really use your advice :)

Update:
Back in 2005, when everyone here helped me do the research I lived in the Uk. Guess what, i now live in hawaii. Still so far away from New York and Italy lol
