Loss family from Transacqua, Trentino

Post by transacqua »

Hello! So glad to have found this group. My ancestors were Vittore and Giovanni Loss, brothers born in 1825 and 1827 in Transacqua, Trentino. They were miners. I am interested in knowing what resources are available to research them and their families further. I believe the church there is St. Mark. Thank you for your help! :)

Hi Vittori's girl,

Unfortunately, the LDS Church (Mormons) films for Transacqua only includes the church records for 1877-1923. You will have to contact the city hall and/or the parish church for your ancestors.

Here is the website for Transacqua. It provides address & email for the city hall.

Hope this helps.

Hello jcsm,

I may be in luck, as Vittore and Giovanni's descendents didn't emigrate until 1910 or 1920! For some reason I didn't see a link to a website in the reply you posted. I appreciate your kind answer and any other infomation list members provide!

Thank you!

Hi wldspirit,

I appreciate your answer! Is it recommended to try to use an online translation site if I write or email or is there generally a person on staff who speaks English? Italian is a challenge for me!

Thank you!

The pdf file form is already written in Italian, I do not recommend the translation sites, it is fine for one or two words, but when it comes to complete sentences......it makes a mess, and reads horribly.

All request must be in Italian, and the replies will be in Italian as well.
Most generally, you will not find an English speaking person in these offices.

You can copy and paste the online form into an email. If you receieve a reply, there is always someone here willing to translate.

If your request is more detailed, here are some sites which may help:

http://www.anzwers.org/free/italiangen/ ... rm.letters

Hope you find these helpful.

wldspirit,

These are excellent sites with a wealth of information! I do have their birthdates, and the names of their sons and daughters-in-law and their dates so that may help. I also know that it was specifically Transacqua. I appreciate these links!

Thank you!
