First Name Translation-"Concezio"

Post by Riverrat »

A common first name in our Carunchiese family is Concezio (Feminine form- Concezia). I think it is archaic, but I have been unable to find a translation anywhere. Help would be appreciated, as it was also my great grandfather's name!

While I am not absolutely certain it appears that the name means CONCEPTION and that the its use is local since there is no name listed as either Concezio or Concezia. The word Concezione in Italian means conception. Peter

Thank you so much. My family line is laden with Concezios and Concezias. When my great grandfather Concezio Valentini came to New York, even he gave up on the name and changed it to Thomas!. Thanks again!

First Name Translation - Concezio

Post by Fugie »

I also have an Italian male in my family tree by the name of Concessio. It is spelled a bit different that Concezio but I believe both names are derived from Conception as previously stated by Peter. The birth date of Concessio in my family tree is December 8th which is the feast day of the Immaculate Conception. There is also a Saint by this name.

The Concessio Mirarchi I have was born 12/08/1881 and died 12/12/1881.
He was the son of Rosario Mirarchi and Maria Teresa Gidaro.
