surname: DaRos from Udine/Aviano

Hi. I am looking for any information on the DaRos family from Aviano and/or Udine. My great-grandfather, Augustino DaRos emigrated to the United States from (I believe) Aviano in 1921. He was born in 1894 and died in San Francisco, California in 1957.
Any help on this specific person, or any other DaRos's would be helpful. Thanks!

Regarding the name...Udine and Pordenone are seperate provinces within the region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia......doing a surname search only shows the name present in Fontanafredda, a town in Pordenone.....Aviano is also in the Pordenone province.

Perhaps in history the town of Aviano was formerly in Udine...??
Destination is Chicago, Illinois.......and he is single.

On the ship's manifest it states that Agostino Daros is going to Chicago, Illinois to a friend named Charles Oswald. Also, he is listed as a student.

Thank you for the information about naturalization papers. I have the Census record and the Ship Manifest, which is where I got my initial information. I am searching for his family in Italy, specifically his parents' names and dates of birth

You could send for his military record, which should reveal parents names.
One of our Italian posters would be able to provide the exact address.

By obtaining everything in his naturalization file, you can discover so much more before starting research in Italy. It is always best to gather all US records first.

Or, if you give me the data, I could check directly at Aviano town hall.
Aviano, till 1966, was under the province of Udine, from 1966 passed to the new province of Pordenone.
One thing: the surname Da Ros is typical of the north of the province of Treviso, not of the Pordenone area.

Any help would be AWESOME. I was in Northern Italy last Spring and saw a construction site with the the name "DeRos" on the sign in Acquila. I did not make it to Aviano, so if you're doing some checking it would be great.
According to the ship manifest of 1921, Agostino DaRos's last permanent residence is "Udine" and the "name and address of nearest relative" is listed as "Father, DaRos at Aviano.Udine Italy". Agostino's age is 27, so that would make him born in 1894.
Again, thank you for any checking you can do. By the way, any idea what the meaning of the surname "DaRos" is?

Letteraly means "from red" or better can be translated as scottish Mac Red.
Probably it was only "Ros" and inthe yras became Da Ros (was usual to ask "who are you from" to ask which family was one part and abitually the asnwer was "da Ros" meaning caming from the family named Ros.
Exist a variant Da Ruos.
widspirit, believe me, Da Ros in this area are much more than in Pordenone area. 400/500 only in Vittorio Veneto.
