My great Grandfather was Nello Canterini, his father I believe was Domenico Canterini who immigrated into the states around 1920

Thanks for the info. I think that may be the right Nello. I'm new to this type of thing so I haven't really tried anywhere but the internet yet. I guess as of right now both and Italian and US records would be informative. Thanks again!

From the SSDI..

Social Security Death Index
about Nello Canterini
Name: Nello Canterini
SSN: xxx-xx-3373
Last Residence: 18702 Wilkes Barre, Luzerne, Pennsylvania, United States of America
Born: 5 Nov 1907
Died: Dec 1966
State (Year) SSN issued: Pennsylvania (Before 1951 )

Just a note on the above manifest..Domenico was in the US prior to 1920..the manifest has his address (The address is in NY) as well as what I believe is his passport number..I haven't really studied it (late for work, as usual) but perhaps someone can give you some other clue/ideas?

Hope this helps.

yeah I looked at them and that's definately my family. Now that 1910 census, I'm guessing the last 2 people listed might be friends of theirs? is that usually what 'boarder' means on a census? Thank you so much!

Boarders were individuals who lived with a family and paid for room and board, and laundry services. Since Domenico was a miner, the two men might have worked at the same colliery.

As a side note, my maternal grandfather Luigi Tardio lived in Plains on 2 St Johns Street. He worked for a number of years as a mason for the Lehigh Coal Company at Henry Colliery in Plains.
