When I sent the letter to DHS for the naturalization documentation search, I requested it for my grandfather who was born as Franco in Italy but was known as Frank in the States. I provided his birth date as well as the names of his parents and received a letter of "no records". However, DHS only listed Franco and not Frank as his name. Will I run into problems when applying for dual citizenship?

I asked the same question to someone who has completed the process who went through the same consulate as I am going through. They did not have a problem. But have said that, I would also note that each embassy has different policies.
I would call up the consulate you are going to use and explain the situation to the emigration officer. Better to do that than make the appointment,get there, and have the officer tell you that you need more docs.
