Re: Superior Court Of Chicago Is federal, state o local cour
Generally speaking, a Superior Court is a trial court for the state. I think in IL that the trial level is actually called a circuit court in IL. A trial court on the federal level is called the United States District Court for the District of (insert name). See www.state.il.us/court for more information on the state system. It is possible that the names of the court changed from Superior to Circuit at some point. The short story is, I am certain it is not a federal court.
A local court would be more like a probate court, in my opinion. Nonetheless, that would still be part of the state system.

If I understand correctly.....you seek the naturalization record for your ancestor of 1914??
Then you send to the local archives, called IRAD....here is a link with the address:
http://www.iltrails.org/cook/cook_records.html
If you scroll down the page you will see the courts and dates covered for naturalization records.

if you are looking at the archies at the great lakes records center 76th and pulaski , or the daley centre for that matter, during the depressions as a WPA project they were all combined, so it doesn't matter what court one naturalized in they would be, or not be as the case may be, in the recrods

Re: Superior Court Of Chicago Is federal, state o local cour
Hey
Thanks very much, for the answers...
Thanks Poipuo4, wldspirit & corrado!
For wldspirit,
yes, I'm seeking this naturalization...
thanks for the site.
I hope, they have an e-mail address..
For Corrado,
I see now your message, thanks...
I really don't know if this archive is at the great lakes,
Because this naturalization of my Ancestor, is a new discovery for me.
I saw it in the passengers list.
I saw this:
"U.s. Citizen...",
"See... (there are write some numbers, with a pen)"
and then "Superior Court in Chicago, Ill., 12/10/14".
And Archives.gov or Nara, don't have the Local Records.

Re: Superior Court Of Chicago Is federal, state o local cour
if you give me the the name first and surname, I can check downtown at the courthouse, as during the depression all the records were merged and are kept on microfische by soundex number by frist name. I don't know of a way you can access this on the interent. I would be happy to take a look for you.

Corrado, Thanks!
The Name is: Andrea Amico.
Andrea (Name)
Amico (Surname)
I saw in the 1930 census, this name: "Andrew Amico"
And I know that He used another name in 1931: "Andrea Romeo" ,
because I have a document "railroad assicuration" of 1931.
He used :"Andrea Amico" in Chicago & New York.
But, maybe he used the others names too.
OK, the options are:
- Andrea (Andrew) Amico
- Andrea Romeo.
If you need more informations,
Ask me.

Nicemusic,
He natualized on 12/16/1914. His date of birth was 8/11/1873 and he entered the usa on 4/24/1892. The file number is P-14223. I hope this is your parent! Let me know. Oh he lived at 2131 N. LaSalle Street. Which is interesting as I thought most Italians stayed south of 1600. I was excited to find this, I hope it is some help. Are you going to apply for american citizenship, it sounds like you are entitled to.

Nicemusic,
Yes we do it opposite of you 8/11 is august 11. I would like to see the census from 1910 and 1920, which I may go to library and look at. I believed that 2131 N. LaSalle was CHICAGO, but there is a BIG problem there.... LaSalle only goes as far as 1700. Now was lincoln park west called LaSalle, that is what i believe the extension is, gosh this needs more research. If he lived in New Orelans, why whould he naruatlize in Chicago? If he died here I can get a death certifiate for you, that would take a little time as I need to go way out to the suburbs to get a free one from the Mormons.
Also all Italians during those days would be burried at mount carmel cemetary.... on the next trip out there I could get a photo of the grave...
