Help with Death Record
Help with Death Record
Greeting,
I am trying to understand the attached death records as there are different dates mentioned. There is no mention of witnesses. Can anyone tell me what the actual date of death is?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Re: Help with Death Record
That's pretty small to read. Do you have a larger image?
Thanks.
Thanks.
Re: Help with Death Record
It 'looks' as if it could be 1869 - 'milleottocento sessantanove'. That's in the second line - it looks too as if the month was October, but I can't make out the day. (Sorry)
But a larger copy would be better.

Re: Help with Death Record
Thank you all for your quick and helpful responses.
Later in the record it mentions the 14 November of the previous year, and the second line from the bottom it mentioned 13 November. Could the 13th of November of the previous year be the actual death date and this entry is some sort of correction?
I tried to increase the size of the image. Sorry, I am new to this.
Thanks again,
Michael

The record looks like it was written on October 1st (primo), 1869.
The document could be one of two documents.
1. It's when the town finally got around to writing a death certificate for the deceased for he could have died in another town, and/or someone forgot to notify the Town Hall that the deceased was dead,
OR
2. It's a correction of a previous death record.
Also, the November 13, 1868 is more than likely the actual death date. However, you have to really read the document to make sure.
I hope this helps,
Trish

Re: Help with Death Record
Hi Trish,
Thanks for your response. I will go back to 1868 and check to see if there is a record in November. I was thinking it could be a correction to the original record as well.
Thanks to all too.

Re: Help with Death Record
It is a late registration out of death registry of Palma di Montechiaro, by Court's sentence of Girgenti town( current Agrigento) of 12 Feb 1869, abt a declaration of death, orally made, in the 14 Nov 1868, no registered and lacking in 1868 death registry, so Salvatore result living, instead was died....
and after the process , and the Girgenti Court's sentence,
the same sentence authorized the civil record Officer of Palma di Montechiaro, of to write in 1869 death registry, the death act of Salvatore LIOTTA age 67, died the 13 Nov 1868, son of Giovanni Battista and Maria DI ROSA, husband of Giuseppa...
