Looking for paesanos from Anzano di Puglia, Foggia

Post by vs2007 »

I'm new to this site so I thought I'd start out by finding anyone out there knows someone or is from Anzano di Puglia or has any information on the Frano family or Staffieri family from Anzano.

Welcome to the forum! I don't know much about your town, but I did find their official Italian language web site. Of particular interest is this nice page of old photos:

You may also want to look in the Italian white pages: www.paginebianche.it

Put Staffieri under cognome and Anzano under "dove" and you may get lucky and find people with that surname still living in Anzano.

If you look at the home page there is a bit about how the town went back and forth between being part of Avellino province and then part of Foggia. In 1931 it returned to Foggia with its current name. From 1862 until 1931, it was part of Avellino with the name Anzano degli Irpini.

I have a little web site of another town in Puglia. You may want to click below and take a look. The pictures may give you a feel for the area.

thanks for the information. I like the white pages link. I found the anzano website and have viewed the pictures. brings back a lot of memories as I was born there and have recently visited.

Again, thanks for the info.

Not to take you off your topic, but since you are from Foggia, are you familiar with Celenza Valfortore? Just wondering....It is quite close to Campobasso.

Thank you Poipuo4 for making things clear. My grandparents were from Sant'Agata di Puglia and had a cousin from Anzano. When I found the cousin's last will, it stated a brother living in Anzano, Province of Avellino. I started to wonder if I had the correct Sant'Agata. Now I am sure they were from Foggia.
