Can be exact spelling is GIURATO (Giurato same sound of Jurato, the same...)???? and Giurato are in Siracusa province and in Ragusa province, in many common, please let me know exact data about John and all details..

My last name is Fraumeni, living in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada originally from London, Ontario Canada. London was a popular destination back in the 1800's I think for people from the Lipari Islands to go to when they came to Canada. All the Fraumeni's in Canada, I believe, are all my relatives but I know there are a fair number in the United States, no idea if they might be related.

MKU61, pretty sure you found out the correct info on your Grandfather John Iurato but thought I'd say that my Great Grandmother Elisabetta Gagliardi married a Giovanni Battista Ieradi in 1940 after her first husband Domenico Maiorano died in 1940.

They came from Cortale/Maida, Calabria to Boston Harbor, Massachusetts, lived in the Winchester area and then moved to Chicago (Cicero). I found many of Giovanni's records with his last name spelled all kinds of ways, Geradi, Gerace, Ierade, Ierardi and Jeradi and he was born in 1892. (Died in 1969).

He then changed his first name to John and went by John Ieradi. John also had a first wife I think named Annunziata and they had two children, Angela and Giuseppe. Annunziata passed away I think in 1920 but I can't find any records of her. Anyway, thought I'd chime in because your Grandfather sounded like my step Grandfather.
