Valenti or Pompeii from Chieti

Post by lvalenti »

I am researching information on the Valenti and Pompeii families from Chieti. Camillo Valenti married Mary Sabia Pompeii around 1895. They immigrated to America in 1902. Their son, Ernesto Tomaso, and daughter, Philomena were born in Chieti. They was a child born between Ernest and Philomena but died prior to 1901.

Any information is greatly welcome.

Are you sure the town of origin for either party is the city of Chieti which is also the capital of the province of Chieti under which here are many towns and villages? Sometimes people identify their origin by the provnce they come from rather than the town. Should you confirm that it is Chieti then go to the nearest family history library of the Mormon church and rent the microfilm for chieti to research your family. If in the interim you check the arrival manifests for your ancestors in the ellisisland webnsite and check the manifest you will obtain the town of origin that way. Peter

I took a cursory look at the manifest and it reflects that Camillo Valenti was born in Chieti so the microfilm fopr Chieti is vlaid and their records go back to 1809 so you shoul be able to research that far back tracing his family and that of his wife assuming she also comes from Chieti. Peter

Peter,

Thank you for the information. My cousin has already exhausted the Ellis Island databases, only finding the passange record. We have not found any data on-line from the LDS family history center. I will be going to my local facility to rent the microfilm.
