Could the name possibly be Bojallad?

I thought the same thing, so probably yes. I'm just curious as to how it got somehow legally changed. If they had it recorded as Bojalad, then I'm not sure when it dropped the second L.
My great-grandma is still alive, and she spells her last name with the one L, and from what I remember, so did my great-grandpa.

I haven't, but I don't know who that would be. His mom, maybe? It could be anyone. I've never heard of a Marrie Bojallad. I do know that my relatives came from Beirut, which is what I assume they meant when they wrote "Beyrouth".
