Was her full name Maria Filomena Tosches? Do you know who her father and mother and grandparents were? Maria Filomena is a family name, but we'd need to know the parents and grandparents to be sure.

As far as I can tell from my searching Filomena Tosches married Giovanni Creasia. They had 3 daughters (I think) Grace Rosetti, my grandmother, Loretta Andreano and I think Claire Sacco.
Any connection?

It would help to know who Filomena's parents were... any idea? In Italy women never take a married name so they keep their birth name for life. Do you have her death certificate? On the certificate it would list her parents names I think.

I know she's not a close relative. She may be a distant cousin. The only way to know is to find out who her parents were.

Most women in my family have the first name Maria and then they went by their middle name with friends and family. The Italian records for Filomena probably have her full name as Maria Filomena Tosches. Casalvecchio di Puglia is excellent with sending family documents upon request. If you want help with that let me know. I wrote to them in Italian and they sent the paperwork within 2 weeks!

I'm planning a trip to Italy in September and want to visit my grandfather's hometown of Casalvecchia di Puglia. Giacomo Tosches (and his parents) eventually settled in Milford, MA, which apparently was the destination for a number of families from this town. Any suggestions for finding out more about his roots and/or potentially contacting family members still living in the area? How can I reach the recordkeepers in Casalvecchio di Puglia? Any help is much appreciated.

Thank you.

Can you email me at jgbouse!gmail.com My name is Gloria Andreano Freemon
I have been to Casalvecchio and went to the Comune to get records on the Andreano, Tosches and Creasia family. I am wondering if there is a connection.
My grandmother was Lauretta Creasia and had 2 other sisters, Grace and Claire

Gloria, I added some data for ptosches in the casalvecchio post https://www.italiangenealogy.com/forum/ ... 7?start=45

I'm sure somewhere along the line we are ALL related...I now just call everyone from Casalvecchio and half the people from Milford MA--cousin!

BTW you can see a list of pre-emigration CRIASIAs that I've linked so far here https://www.wikitree.com/index.php?titl ... ortable&u=

and a much shorter list of post-emigration CREASIAs herehttps://www.wikitree.com/index.php?titl ... ortable&u=

Have just found this thread today and thought I should join the conversation. My wife is a descendant of Filomena Tosches 1858-1933 and Giovanni Criasia 1858-1928, both born Casalvecchio di Puglia in 1858, emigrated to Milford, both died in Milford. Their daughter Maria Gracia Crescia married Folicardo Nicolo Rossetti, lived in nearby Franklin, MA, and had 14 children.

My wife is related to Gloria Freemon of this thread, and is descended from the "Grace" she mentions. We have met Gloria.

My wife's cousin visited Casalvecchio in the 1990's. I'm not sure what records he unearthed.
