Researching family names: Stefania & Procaccini

Post by Mitzu »

Hi,

I'm trying to trace my grandfather, Michele Antonio Stefania, born Dec.03, 1874 in the provence of Foggia. He was an only child. I believe he did have an uncle on his mother's side. I do not have any info on his mother and father whatsoever. He came to USA between 1903 & 1905. I believe he landed in Boston and then immigrated to Canada. I haven't had any luck locating the ship he arrived on & when or where he entered into Canada.

Also trying to trace back on my grandmother's family. I do have more info on her. Her name was Maria Concetta Procaccini, born Feb. 04, 1872, in Panni, Foggia. Mother's name was Anna D'Michele. Father was Angelo Procaccini. She left Italy around 1907 to live in Canada. I don't know what port she landed in.

Any info on anything would be greatly appreciated. :D
Thanks,
Mitzu

For canada entries go to www.archives.ca/02/02020204_e.html and for USA entry into Boston you can either send a form 81 to NARA at Waltham Massachusetts (www.genealogylookups.com/narchives.htm for form 81).You can also send an e-mail to waltham.Archives@nara.gov asking thm for his entry information furnishing them his name and date of birth or year oif birth and entry into Boston. You can also go to the famiuly history library of the Mormon church near your home and obtain the microfilm of Boston Passenger lists 1902-1920 and request NARA mivrofilm#T521-10 also under FHL#1324983 and look up Stefania, Michele Antonio for his arrival at Boston if you do not get any results out of Boston and wlatham office. Hi, Michele Antonio Stefania emigrated in 1904 coming from Panni (Foggia province)/Boston; it went Carmine Procaccini-Boston:

Civil rfecords for Panni date from 1809 to 1899 so instead of requesting microfilm on boston entries you reqesut micrfilm of Panni and research your grandmothers family back to 1809 if you wish. Peter
