Problems finding italian birth record - HELP!

Post by davidlatour »

I've hit a serious dead end and I need any advice I can get. On all of my american records my bisnonna, Rosaria Ferraro's, birth is listed as sometime around October 18, 1890 in Acri, Cosenza, however, neither the comune nor the archivio di stato were able to find the birth record. Whats even more interesting is they found a record of a Michele Ferraro with the same parents, Francesco Ferraro and Annunziata Basile, on the same day! This indicated that I had the correct town but possibly the wrong date. I received the microfilm for the comune about a month ago and searched from about 1882-1893 and found a ton of Ferraro's but only two records that looked reasonable (one was in 1882 and the other in 1893). It was very difficult to make out the parents names from the document, so these may very well be different Rosarias. Do you think its possible that she was a twin and only her brother was registered? I'm very confused at this point.....

David can you post the two birth acts you found for Rosaria where you say the parents are hard to read?
