HELP...In Search of 3 family Surnames...

Post by stewey75 »

Hi everyone,

I'm new to the forum and I'm trying to do my family genelogy. I have hit a road block.

On 1 side of my family (father's side), there are no relatives alive to provide me with any information on my Great Grandmother and Great Grandfather and her ancestors.

I also have my 3rd generation Great Grandfather (my mom's side) that I can't find any information on except his name and 1 child.

I'm not sure where else to go. I contacted Somerville MA town hall and they provided me with the death certificates but it said the parents for both are unknown.

How do I contact Italy for vital records. I have a letter all drafted in Italian, I just need an address.

Here is the information..

***3rd generation Great Grandfather - Jospeh Solari > 1 child Quilico Solari born 1865 in Casarza (?), Italy

***Looking for 2nd generation Great Grandfather and Mother's parents.
John Paganussi > born 1868 married Anna Casassa
Anna's mother's first name was Serafina. I think they immigrated to the US around 1883.

Any information for these 3 relatives or where else to look would be grealty appreciated!

Thanks,
Tammy

Tammy, welcome to the forum!
We'll be happy to see what we can do to help.

Records in Italy are found at the town or comune level.
You'll need to find out where they were born first.

Valarie,

Thank you soo much for responding! I wish I could find more information but this is all I have, not sure if this is any help..

Joseph Solari - His US Passport Application says he was born near genoa, italy. Is Casarza Italy near Genoa?

John Paganussi - (?)

Anna Casassa- (?)

(Anna Casassa's mother)Serafina - Genoa, Italy; Says her ethic/race/nationality was Italian (North)

thank you Biff! At least that is a helpful start. I'm not even 100% sure Joseph (Solari) is his first name, I got that from a us census. Its worth a try!

Hi VJ,

No, I think Joseph and wife (?) had a son names Quilico Solari and they ended up in Amesbury, Massachusetts. I have had some issues finding Quilico due to the spelling of his first name. He was born in 1865 and I believe from family stories he was a fruit merchant in Amesbury. As far as Quilico's father Joseph, I'm not even sure if that is his first name. I got that from a census.

So far this is what NEHGS has with the correct spelling
I can view the image (*) but I can’t link it
Note: for births this is just the town index, not the actual documents

Last Name First Name Town/Village Year Vol Page Type

* image available

* Solari Aurelia Agnes Amesbury 1909 2 104 Death

* Solari Flora M. Amesbury 1895 448 333 Birth

Solari Frank Joseph Amesbury 1893 436 371 Death

Solari John J. Amesbury 1894 36 21 Birth

Solari Joseph Peter Amesbury 1900 504 443 Death

Solari Joseph Peter Amesbury 1898 475 381 Birth

* Solari Louis Quilico Amesbury 1892 421 312 Birth

Solari Louisa Loretta Amesbury 1904 542 392 Birth

* Solari Quilico Amesbury 1910 1 458 Death

Solari Relia Agnes Amesbury 1897 466 380 Birth
---

I looked at Quilico's Death Certificate, his father's name was listed as Joseph

Hi Valarie,

This entry (below) matches what I have for Quilico's date of death. He was born in 1865 so I figure that his father (Joseph) would have to have been born around 1820-1830ish time frame..
* Solari Quilico Amesbury 1910 1 458 Death

It could be a possiblity that Joseph didn't immigrate to Amesbury, MA and only Quilico came over. Not sure then how I would find his information besides writing to Italy.
