George Reda; Victor Reda

Post by Ritamay »

Hello -- regarding the above persons (my mother's 1st cousins), I only have the following information:

GEORGE REDA - b Nov. 27, 1900 (Brooklyn?); d Nov. 1986 in Suffolk Co. - Deer Park NY - parents Names? Father was brother to my maternal Grandfather (John Reda); mother was sister to my mat. grandmother (Filomena Reda); wife's name was Sally (nee?)

VICTOR REDA - b Jan 29, 1898 (Italy, US? - what state?); d July 1971 in Lakewood Co. - Ocean, NJ - I do not know if he was a nephew to John or Filomena (hunch - Filomena); wife Olive (nee?)

If anyone would be willing to compile census data up to & before 1920 that would/could include George or Victor, it would be appreciated.

I will leave the censuses to people with Ancestry. I can tell you there is a population of Reda's in Cosenza Province in Rende, Carolei, Domanico, Mendicino and Montalto Uffugo. I have Reda cousins whose grandfather came from Rende. One of my websites, The Cosenza Exchange has a few years of records from Rende up and an Excel spreadsheet of immigrants at Ellis Island who came from Rende (thanks to Steve Morse's site). You can view the Rende index here:

Thank you Cathy -- I look forward to reviewing the site (my grandparents came from Carolei & Domanico, respectively - however, their parents/grprts., et al may have lived in other parts of the region.)

Hi Laura - Thank you for the information on Victor; it is especially helpful to know that he was born in Pennsylvania & that his mother's name was Louise.
