Hello everyone, firstt I want to say thank you for thvis wonderful forum. On Oct 18, I wrote letters to all the Davide's living in Sorrento currently to see if any of us were related. My great-great grandfather Cordialino emmigrated from Sorrento in 1888... yesteday I rec'd the following email... I am so excited (nd thrilled someone actually took the time to research and answered my letter.... please help me translate ( i used google translate but it is a poor translation)

This is the email I rec'd:

"Ciao,

mi chiamo Carmine Davide e alcune settimane fa ho ricevuto la tua lettera. Anche mio padre, Davide Davide ha ricevuto ieri la stessa.

Mi dispiace che ci ho messo tanto a rispondere, ma abbiamo fatto una lunga ricerca per scoprire che effettivamente siamo parenti. Alla fine è stato molto semplice, mio padre è andato al Comune a richiedere degli estratti di nascita e abbiamo scoperto che il tuo bisnonno Cordialino Davide e il mio bisnonno, Davide Davide (08/06/1859) erano fratelli.

Io ho 36 anni e ho un fratello di 39 anni. Siamo tutti e due sposati e io ho una bimba di 2 anni.

Ci farebbe davvero piacere fare la tua conoscenza di persona, tieni presente che qui a Sorrento la mia famiglia ha un albergo e quindi se pensi di venire da queste parti saremo ben lieti di ospitarti, Comunque aspettiamo tue notizie via email, magari con qualche foto.

Aspettiamo con ansia la tua risposta, ma tieni presente che io domani parto per una settimana e torno il 15 novembre. Mio padre non è pratico al computer, quindi sicuramente ti potrò rispondere al mio ritorno.

Hello J. That is great news. I too was able to contact my relatives in Sicily with the help of these great people on this site. My first forum Looking for Ancestors from Sicily.
