Family Census or other sources

Post by antonio43 »

Hello, I'm looking for BRUSCELLA family from Genzano or Acerenza, who went to the USA.

I'm especially research eventual members from this family born in the decade 1860-1870, especially son of Matteo

Thanks.
Antonio

Hi Antonio,

Here is a link to BRUSCELLAS' coming through Ellis Island (New York). All listed from Genzano.

This is a free site, but you have to register to view the manifests.

Hope this helps.

Hi There,

The Family History Center has microfilm for both towns that you mentioned. On the film, you can find copies of the birth, marriage, and death acts of your ancestors.

Here is the link for the film numbers for the town of Acerenza.

Here is the link for the film numbers for the town of Genzano.

Here is the link to find the nearest Family History Center.

In case you want to write to the towns for records, here are their addresses.

Ufficio Stato Civile
Comune di Acerenza
Via V. Emanuele III, 151
85011 Acerenza PZ
ITALY

Here is the official website for the town of Acerenza.

Ufficio Stato Civile
Comune di Genzano di Lucania
Piazza Risorgimento, 1
85013 Genzano di Lucania PZ
ITALY

Here is the link for the official Website.
http://www.comune.genzano.pz.it/

Also, if you can be more specific with names, dates, and where they settled in the USA, I'm sure we can find some census records for you.

I hope this helps some.

I presume you meanGenzano di Lucania and not Genzano di Roma. Go to www.nonsolocap.it an dput in Genzano and click CERCA and the two towns will show up. Click on the correct town and that will show you the town adminstration and addresses and there most likely will be a website for the town itself on the right side midway down the page. TPeter=

My grandfather,Vito Canio Bruscella, was born November 8th, 1884 in Genzano di Lucania, Italy. He arrived in the USA on May 16th, 1903 aboard the ship "Belgravia".
My father, Rocco Michael Bruscella, was one of his eight children (four sons, four daughters), born in New York September 29th, 1922.
I would very much like to find out all about the Bruscella family line that I can.

Chuck,
Ellisisland.org for passenger record, if you haven't already found it.
I have researched my Bruscella ancestors in Genzano. For ancestors: Films are available from the Family History Centers. The films are very clear, though written in Italian. Go to familysearch.org, drop down "library catalog". Make sure to view "Genzano di Lucania", not "Roma". Review film dates, birth, marriage, death all available. Start with the date of Vito Canio Bruscella's birth, since you already know it. Build upon what you find. For descendants: Have you tried Ancestry.com for U.S. censuses;
