I have finally begun to unravel the mystery surrounding my grandfather, Frank Joseph Julian from Dunkirk, NY, due in part to the expertise and help of many of you on this forum.
If I could please ask you another question: Is there a free way to access Social Security information? I have reason to believe that my grandfather mentioned his mother's name on it, and that can serve as my link to his possible birth certificate from Onano, Italy.
Thank you once again for your assistance,
Jeff Julian

Re: Social Security Information
I ordered my gggrandfather's application, and it had his mother's name on it. It took maybe two weeks to arrive.
The other thing you could try would be ancestry.com to see if maybe someone else happened to upload a copy of it to their family tree as a source. Not likely, but worth a shot if you are looking.

Re: Social Security Information
Dear Michael As I informed you earlier the Social security people advised in their www.SSA.gov/foia/html/foia_guide.htm that many applicants born 1910 or earlier have abbreviated records that do not contain the names of the individuals parents and many not contain a place of birth so youare very fortunate that the mothers name was provided too you in light of this information. =Peter=
