Justin, your infos having no much details... however the italian correct surname is ATTINA' ( with accent) and this is sure....
I found a death record abt:

Attina Pietrina 56 y Mar 5 1927 ( cert.number 4905 ) Kings 1870 - 1871
but in effect in 1920 census, it are a
Pietrina Attino ( Attinà) born around 1866, wife of Thomas ( many italian changed Gaetano first name in Thomas)

The surname is ATTINA' in italian spelling, and not Attino; Attino is wrong in italian spell... I know not if your ancestors came from Messina town or from some Common in Messina province.
It is possible this second option also...
so if you sure abt Messina common as birthplace, by 1900 census you know the month and year of births of your ancestors and for to ask the birthacts you can use the right italian form letters very helpful and availables in this website : www.circolocalabrese.org/
