Post by chezarie »

This is a very long shot- especially because at this writing, not sure of the last name- something like Roccolla. Looking for info on my father. His name was Luigi R- He died in December of 1975.Lived in New Rochelle NY .He would have been about 36 in 1956,my birth. He was born in Italy. Was married, not to my mother, and had 3,I think ,childrenMy mother was Catherine Quinlan Chasse'. Thank you! chassj@mmc.org

I have a Giovanni Roccola arriviing in 1909 at age 20 and married destined to his brother in law in Canada. His town of origin in Italy is Arzano.. Please check this out at the ellisisland.org website for any other indication this is your father. It meets the criteria for age, marriage status and surname spelling..Best you approve before proceeding.

Oddly enough there is no social security death index for him or variations of his last name which might indicate he never obtain a social security card which you maybe able to clarify if he used a different name.

1956 minus 36, gives us a birthyear of about 1920, if he was born in Italy,
immigration would have been 1920 or thereafter.

Do you have any other detail which would help narrow down the results?

Did he marry here in the US or in Italy? Any idea if he became a naturalized citizen? Any military background?

Did you send for the naturalization records provided by Biff?
These may reveal some excellent clues.

What of the death record??

Im pretty certain that Luigi Ruccolo is my fella.I greatly appreciate the help folks have given me. Truly was not expecting alot. At this point, not quite sure of what I want to do with continuing my search. As 1st written, this gent may be my father. I know very little about him. What I do know, from my mother and her family. I would like to find something about him. He had a wife, who was not my mother. With this lady I think he had 3 children. They would be my half brothers and sister.Id like to find them. Not sure of what if any relationship could happen between us,especially as I dont know what and if they know of me. Under any circumstances Im pretty sure that my appearing would be a shock,if they dont know about me,do know about me and were perhaps expecting to have one day heard from me.Aside from information on my father, not quite sure of what Im looking for. I am not looking to cause any concern , worry or problems. Come what may! Thanks.PS-its Portland, not Poortland! OY!

Not a problem. Just go back into your profile and change it to read correctly.

Take your time thinking about how you would like to approach this part of your family. It's an important step and you need to be ready. When the time comes, then do what you feel is right.

As an FYI, you're not the first person here (and I am sure you won't be the last) to have to make a decision like this so if you would like to hear from others about their experiences ask and I am sure you will receive!

Good luck and keep us posted! :0

Hi, suanj :D !

There is also a 1956 manifest for a Maria Luigia Ruccolo (maiden name Columbo) travelling with possible children Antoinetta, Nicola and Vincenzo Ruccolo to 10 Willus AVe, New Rochelle. Another possible wife and children.
1956 manifest
