vincenzo gugliotta

Post by michienzi2000 »

Hello I am glad to have found this website because I really want to find some information about my granfather, who abandoned in 1920s my grandmother (whose surname was Gemelli) and his daughter Caterina (my mum) to go to the States, where maybe he had a new family.

His name is Vincenzo Gugliotta, he was born in 1896 and he lived in Filadelfia (Catanzaro), Southern Italy. Maybe when he went to USA he was 20.

I know that the departure started from Naples, but he was from Filadelfia. Is there a way to find this person? Thank you so much for your help.

Nice find, Laura!

Vincenzo's occupation as a shoemaker might be helpful if we locate any other possible records.

Very interesting! Is it possible to know the place where Vincenzo died and possibly his second wife's name and address, so that I could find her (or her sons) in order to ask information about my grandfather?

Anyway, in 1988, after a request of mine, Social Security Administration office (Northeastern Program Serrvice Center in Flushing, NY 11368) told my mother that the last known address they had for Vincenzo was: "Sea Crest Health Care Center 3035 West 24 Street Brooklyn NY 11224". Maybe this info can help you.
Thank you so much.

Buongiorno Antonio!

I'm happy we found him!!! :D

Usually death certificates list the place of burial.., As you know his death dates, you should try to order his death certificate, here you can find all the instructions to do it:

http://www.nyc.gov/html/doh/html/vr/vrdappl-1.shtml

this is the Death certificate application (PDF):

http://www.nyc.gov/html/doh/downloads/pdf/vr/death1.pdf

I don't know if they can accept cash for the order, in case they don't you can use this site where you can pay for the fee using a credit card....

http://www.vitalchek.com/

I'm pretty sure that if he was married the certificate should have listed also his wife's name...or nearest relatives..

Good luck and let us know how it goes....

Laura :D

The problem is that he changed his surname in Gugliotti..

Somebody told my grandmother that in USA he managed to open a shoe-making business.. who knows..
