significance of lines crossed out on ship manifests

Post by rpucci »

I have noticed that some of the lines of the travelers on ship manifests are crossed out. Is there any significance to this? Thank you!

Usually it signifies that the passenger did not make that sailing and was not a passenger.

Since you asked that question, perhaps you might want to learn about the markings on the manifest since there are usually other questions relating to the passenger manifests. Go to www.jewishgen.org/InfoFiles/Manifests

Sometimes they would cross out the names of U.S. citizens and then list them on a separate page.
