Martellacci is not listed inthe Italian surname dictionary and while being an italian surname its origin may be local in origin based upon the Italian surname that is listed in the surname dictionary or simply a variation of the Italian vocabulary word Martello meaning "hammer". The acci ending would imply "big hammers". =Peter=

I'm very surprised that this name is not listed - - - I do have some family in Quesa - not sure if that is spelled right. But, I'm looking for any old records or someone that is a Martellacci that can help - thank you for your info as that is very interesting.

I was not able to find any Italian location named Quisea. Where did you find it? If you have a document that you can post with this place listed, maybe this will help identifying it.

Hello - I'm sorry its taken me so long to get back to you. But, I found some old papers etc and the correct spelling is Quiesa Pro. di Lucca - - I don't know how to send it from the computer but I'll see if I can get some help - - - I would love to be in contact with a Martellacci in that area to help me with more research - - I also am looking for family that is "Luporini" - - from the Bozzano area - - not sure if that is the same area as Quiesa - thank you for your help.

Hello Mary
Quiesa and Bozzano are both frazioni (villages) belonging to the comune of Massarosa, province Lucca, region Tuscany
If you google 'Quiesa Italy' you can get a zoomable map of the area :D
