Origin of surname Acciaroli

Post by sidtindall »

I am seeking the origin of my great-great-grandmother. Her name was Marie or Maria Acciaroli. Last known address was St Ouen, Paris in 1889.

hi, you sure that the surname was Acciaroli and not Acciaioli? because Acciaioli is present in Isernia/ Campobasso area also.... as Guatieri
Acciaroli especially in Ascoli Piceno area and some record in roma area...

Thanks for asking. On the wedding bans from Paris it is actually spelt Akciaroli not double 'c' so I am sure that is the surname as I don't think it would jave been spelt with a 'k'

Looking at signatures on wedding, it is Acciaioli. Besides Maria, Giacomo Acciaioli, B.1864, cousin of the groom, and Antonio Acciaioli B.1859, friend of the groom are also listed.

I have confirmed that the spelling is as you had it...Acciaiolli.
Maria was born about 1847. She was married to Augustine (Agostino) Guatieri although they were not living together in Paris when there son Michele Guatieri married Alexandrine Porelli.

I am also seeking ancestors of Alexandrine Porelli. She was born 26 Oct 1868 in Picinisco, Frosinone, Lazio.
Father Laurent Porelli, mother Antoinette Rossi.

I believe that your family came from Pozzilli, currently in the province of Isernia, but before it was in the province of Campobasso ..
Unfortunately the civil status of Pozzilli is not available online, but I believe that if you could see the microfilms and look for the marriage of Agostino Guatieri and Maria Acciaioli, before 1869 most likely, you could know if Maria Acciaioli was also born in Pozzilli, as I believe.

My Acciaroli family was from Force. Would like to know the origins of the family name.
