Panetta/Panetti in Massa d'Alba

Post by annwncomes »

My great grandfather was Sabatino Panetta but is last name was changed to Panetti in the USA. I have imigration and marriage information for him. He was born in Forme,Massa d'Alba, Italy in 1886. His father was Nunzi O Panetta and his mother was Annajusta (unknown maiden name) his siblings include Felic, David, Agostina, Mary. I have heard that Felic died in the earthquake of 1915, I know nothing of David, Agostina married Rizerio Ricci whose descendants settled in Canada, and I was told that Mary was married and had three children but I do not know who her spouse was. Any information about the Panetta family in the region of Massa d'Alba, L'Aquila is greatly apreciated or advice on how to obtain older records in this area. Thank you.

Hello!
You could review your family’s records on microfilm.
Valarie

Your nearest Family History Center has records for Massa d'Albe on microfilm - but only thru 1865.
You would have to write to the comune for records after 1865 (more info at bottom of post)
The cost is about $6 mo (rent), you’ll need to go to the center to order & view them.

Hello!
Yes, the success rate seems to be pretty high.
The length of time varies from a few weeks to months.
