Hi Anthony and welcome to the forum.

Can you give us a little more info. Date of birth, date of immigration, other family members? That will make it easier for us to help you search.

Do you have any records? (Ship's manifest, census records)

Post what you know and we will try to help.

Yes it is the right family! Amazing.....thank you very much. I now have a starting point. I am trying to trace my roots to Italy. I know nothing about my Italian relatives there. I am Anthony and Mamie's grandson....they went on to have 4 children: Doris, Louis, Alice, and Anthony Jr. and raised them in New Brunswick, NJ. My father was their youngest son, Anthony. Any help on tracing my Italian (Europe) would be greatly appreciated, as I know very little about how to do this.

Your awesome,
Anthony III

Also, Any idea what the word Toxacco stands for? It is listed after Mamie and Anthony's names in the 1930 census data. Thanks :P

It's a really bad transcription of their surname on the census by ancestry. com

Anthony, we can help direct you on how to research your family in Italy.
Since Italian records are kept at the comune (town) level, we'll need to know Anthony's exact birth location and if his name was 'americanized' to Locacio.

Did Anthony arrive in the US with his parents?
Did his parents live in New Brunswick also?
Did he have any brothers or sisters in the US?

Thanks!

To my knowledge my grandfather (Anthony Locacio) was born in Messina, Italy I think, and came here very young.. I think his parents stayed there but I could be wrong. The 1930 census says both his parents were born in Italy. I never met my great grandparents from either side, so I have no idea. I do think he had other brothers and sisters possibly, but I can't remember. My grandmother (Mamie) I believe was born in NJ or NY. Her father was born in Italy and her mother was american I think. Her maiden name was Tomaso. She had a brother named Stanley and a sister they called Wee Wee, but I don't know her real name. I hope this helps.

Thank you for the help,
Anthony III

Anthony, since you've got so many names, you may want to download this free genealogy software
