I have discovered that Marcello died in 1980 in Naples at the young age of 57 or 58. I have no more information.

The only record that I came across is www.armorial-register.com/site-map.html with Umberto Tutinelli listed therein. There is no Umberto listed in www.familysearch.org under ancestor search. =Peter=

Is there any way of tracing a clothing company that was based in Rome in the 1940s and 1950s? The family name was Tutinelli, but I don't know whether it traded under that name. And I don't know whether the company still existed after that.

It seems that Tutinelli is a very rare lastname....
Why don't try to contact the Tutinelli present today on the Italian whitepages (only 5 persons)?
Among them there is also an Umberto...

http://www.paginebianche.it/execute.cgi ... =&dv=&ind=

However, I found several references to the Tutinelli from the town of Atina - Frosinone Province - Lazio region:

http://www.comune.atina.fr.it/citta/storia.html

there is also a person member of italian genealoy forums:
http://genmarenostrum.forumup.it/profil ... arenostrum

Maybe you can contact him and ask if he knows something...

There are only five Tutinellis listed in the White Pages. Is that in the whole of Italy or just in the Rome region?

In addition to Laura's excellent adbvice (presumably you are calling them up and speak Italian or writing them a letter in Italianj) you might wish to go to google.com and put in title "Tutinelli surname Italy" for all references to that surname. =Peter=

But there are many more Tutinellis than those listed in the White Pages. In England you can choose to be "ex directory" and not be listed. Is it the same in Italy?

Thanks for all your help :)

This site will show you just how rare the name is in Italy.

The good thing about having such a rare last name is that it makes it so much easier to trace. Most likely all of these people are relatives of some sort.

I mentioned that Marcello Tutinelli died in Naples in May 1980. Is there a main newspaper in Naples that would have contained his obituary? I will contact them to see if I can buy the newspaper of that day.
