Birth and Marriage records

One more question please--you all have been so helpful. Will the church have a copy of birth certificates or only baptismal? I still need my great grandfather's birth certificate for dual citizenship. Since the Palermo comune wrote they have no copy and only mailed the marriage certificate, I don't know how to obtain a copy of his birth certificate. Maybe a mistake was made and I should try the Comune in person as well.

My inclination is to say the church does not have a birth record save for the baptismal certificate which should have his birth date. Perhaps a personal visit to the Stato Civile office in Palermo might prove helpful....it certainly can't hurt. =Peter=
