Thanks so much! The census ahows a lot of information. Is it possible though to find out the specific place in Italy where Mario and Annunziata were from?

No... it would only show "Italy" on a census record :(

but....

Here’s a manifest of interest... :!:

I haven't researched this manifest enough to confirm whether he is yours...

So far this is the closest surname I could find... Mario would be joining his brother-in-law Ferdinando Russo... in N.Y.

Another alternative to the name Ingordo may be Inguardo. That is, if you are not certain of the spelling.

Thanks suanj and Italy50,

I don't know... :? I am still not convinced about the surname Ingordo... I also did a search of "Inguardo", and only one name came up...

Again, more needs to be researched.. I need to review the census records further... thanks for posting them up, really makes things easier to review.

The recent manifest I located still doesn't convince me yet either... :? I also need to research the person that this Mario was going to join (Russo), and the other people from Afragola.

I should also be checking other ports as well... in time...

Bk,
Have you pulled any US documents? Birth, marriage, death and naturalization? Church records? Old obituaries list lots of infos, social security apps are sometimes helpful....talk to other family members and check for old photos, letters, postcards and certificates....sometimes this gets passed down thru the family. Try to discover Ann's maiden name, and the names of their parents. You may get lucky and find the name of the town of origin........ :)

One more thing...do you know of any brothers, sisters or cousins of Mario and Ann......would also help Mfjp and Suanj in tracking down a manifest,
provides a profile so to speak......

wldspirit-
I don't think that we have any documents on Mario Ingordo, I have tried to search for marriage and death certificates but have come up with nothing. I am going to get a hold of my grandfathers birth certificate, Vincent Ingordo, and that should tell me Annie's maiden name. We do not have any photos of my great-grandfather in my immediate family, but I am going to start talking to Great aunts and Uncles to see if they have anything. The fact that Mario's brother-in-law is a Russo is funny, because that is my last name. My father is a Russo. But I think this is just a coincidence. I also believe that I have Annie's and Mario's S.S. numbers. I will get them to you.
Thanks!

SSDI http://ssdi.rootsweb.com/

Use this site to search and find them, either by name or SS number. It's good to check the spelling of the name as in the SS records. Once you find them there is a place to click on to generate a letter to send to the SSA for their original SS application that was completed by the person named on the record.
