vj asked earlier if your family was from the town of Genoa or the province of Genoa.
Do you happen to know which?
LDS has church and civil records covering 1791 to 1927 if it's the town of Genoa.

Post back and let vj know.

Regards,
Elizabeth
Hey Elizabeth :D !
You're right!
The comune in Genoa is the big question.
The only records (so far) are the British census.
They're pretty consistent in indicating both Genoa and that
Giacomo's occupation was as a seaman.
We're hoping that the record(s) that Sarah sends away for
may have the exact location in Genoa.
I'm not sure where else to look.

This is a pretty long post...
While Sarah waits for her records, I was headed back
into the British records to see if we can find any information
on the Winter & Merani siblings.
It would be nice if we could find another Merani joining
Margaret in the US, maybe for a visit?
You never know!

Hey Laura :D !
Those are terrific records!
I hope you're right, it would be wonderful if
they had the town on them.
Do you suppose it would be possible for Sarah
to write directly to the church, or are they on
LDS microfilm?

Hey Sarah :D !
Enjoy!
We had fun putting some of your pieces together.
No doubt you can find some of these folks birth, marriage, death
records in the free British Indexes (on pg 1 of your post)
There is a possibility that Ellen Winters was joining a sister
and her sister's husband in Saratoga in 1909.
It may be a manifest worth looking for.
(in case you haven't used it, easy one-step Ellis Island Search)
We hope you and your grandma can make some sense of all
of this  !

yikes!
No it wasn't, I had turned the page to check the spelling
of the street address and linked the wrong page.
It's fixed now.
Thanks!
