Thanks Suanj
The first one I think the date of her birth makes her too old The 2nd one could be a contender she would have been 34 years old in 1944 but although in a way this doesnt make sense what I'm thinking I feel she would have been younger than 34 when she had the baby.
Many thanks for looking that up for me
take care
God bless

Re the newspaper link I posted previously, I have been in contact with the Editor and their newspaper doesnt cover the area of Standon, so that link isnt any good.
I have found another newspaper in the area of Standon and I've emailed the editor just to find out if Wellpond Green is covered in their editions and I also asked if they did any articles re someone searching for a relative in that area but I didnt give any details re what you have posted on the forum, I will wait until you say if you want to follow this line of enquiry or not. I'll let you know when and if I get a reply from the editor.

Emmy, thank you again. If you get a reply from th editor please feel free to give the information. You have my permission. In the meantime I had gone back to one of your posting where you had a site that brought up all the camps with an email address at the bottom. I took the liberty of trying it and actually received a response when I asked of the nearest camps to Well pond Green and Standon Friars. I was told the nearest camp was #411-The Wynches Camp about 2 kilometers from Well pond Green. Also tht Standon Friars is a farm located near to the village of Standon. Also told that other smaller sites located aroudn the main place, often soldiers were housed in nearby houses and farms. The person mentioned a map, but it was not attached so I am awaiting a response.
I will research this over the weekend. Emmy you are wonderful. Thank you.

I'm so pleased that you have finally found a link. I've a feeling that the pieces missing in the 'jigsaw puzzle' will soon be found, fingers crossed.
As soon as I get a reply from the editor I'll give them the information plus the extra information you have found.
I just have a strong feeling that the surname is Williamson (but whether that was Hilda's maiden name or married name is difficult to know.) I keep trying to think of how my father-in-law would have attempted to write that word and I keep coming up with Williamson. There is a phone number for that John Williamson age 65 who lives in the area of Wellpond Green. I meant to ask you how old was your father in 1946?
God Bless

I have been searching for the surname 'Sanges' many of the Christian names that come up with that surname are Italian.
Could the G. Sanges on the back of the photograph be related in some way to your father?

Re: ITALIAN POW -WWII- looking for son
I wanted to post that TODAY I finally received a response from the RED CROSS with all the information of the camps my father was held during WWII in England. Just seeing how many places he was tranported to and getting this information is unbelievable! I still have to research each camp so maybe this will lead me to more information of finding the woman he had a child with and what become of the child.
I would like to thank everyone for helping me get this far!

Re: ITALIAN POW -WWII- looking for son
I haven't been on this site for so long. I found out my father was held in Camp 128-(Meesden, Buntingford, Hertfordshire) in England but never found out the name of the farm he worked on so I could investigate who the woman may of been of whom he fathered a child....so I guess I hit a dead end.
Re: ITALIAN POW -WWII- looking for son
We are all wishing you the best on this. You have no doubt tried to see what camps or whatever were in Hertfordshire, but I found a little post by an ex German Prisoner of war who was in a camp or detention in 1946/July47 at a place named Much Hadham. His name is Walter Scharnagl. If you google in Much Hadham Scharnagl you should find his post.I would try writing to him if he is still alive. At least being there at that time he may just lead you onto something or at least have an idea of areas/ farms/houses etc where prisoners of war could be during those years in that county....just a long shot, but you do have a hard task so everything must be tried. Best of luck.John

I meant to add in my previous post that the name on the back could be Mrs Saggers...I have known of one surname Saggers in my life. John
