Hello Everyone!

Okay I have a little bit of new info. I talked to the NARA in Missouri they are sending me Giovanni (John) Cergnul's NA Papers. I asked the lady if she could tell me what ship he came here on and when he arrived... she told me that it was "NOV. 24, 1913 ON THE CARPATHIA" Which was surprising because me and Maria have both gone through that manifest several times and can not find him....

Also Wldspirit posted a death record for a" JOHN VICTOR CERGNUL DIED 2-22-1923" I did not think anything of it at the time because I knew about him he was John's son. I got to thinking about and if he did not died until 1923 then why would he not be listed in the 1920 census with his parents?

Thank you all for your help!

Hello Everyone,

I am going to do a recap of what information that me and the Great Researchers in the forum have found so far,and what I already know.

John Cergnul born Giovanni Cergnul on Oct.31, 1894 in Bergot Italy. On all the papers and ect. that have been found his birthday is listed as Nov.1,1894.The baptism record was recored in either Albona or Pola.

John's parents names were Matteo Cergnul and Eugenia Fagodi. His Godfather's name was listed as" Josephus Rabor Ales. Martini" This translation maybe off so I will try to get a link posted for the document.

I also have the 1920 and 1930 Census, and a war reg. card and a social security record.

John also had three brothers named Matteo,Antonio, and Frank, that never came to the US that I am interested in, I have more information on these brothers if you need it I will post it just let me know.

If I have missed any information I am sorry and I will repost in later.Thank you for your help!

Kristina, I read all about your ancestor search.. just a bit, maybe can help you:

I believe that the better thing is to write at someone ÄŒernjul in Albona/Labin; I believe that currently, the surname spelling is so... I found by Internet a EDA (no IDA)ÄŒernjul in Labin , I believe that could be a Matteo daughter.. she speak so well the italian language!!! http://www.istrianet.org/istria/literat ... ernjul.htm

also are this people in Labin or near with italian first name
Names and phone #'s have been removed from this post and private messaged to Kristina.... security issues need to be considered...

Suanj I hope you understand... phone #'s that were posted in another post at this forum were removed because there were complaints...

Kristina...

Did you receive the manifest of Ivan (or Juan )Cargnul (or close) ... of 1913... I am not sure if you received it... it was at the time our site was being hacked!! The manifest was dated Oct 1913...

You were the person I was writing to and then as soon as I hit submit button ... that is when our site was locked up...

If not, I can try to locate it again... just can't remember what I used to search with....

Maria

Further.... private messages from Sunday (day of hack) do not exist... I need to also check my other email and see if I had sent other info from there.... so mad!!

I will relink the name of passenger that John Cergnal swears he travelled with on the Carpathia... I think it is a great clue here...

I've looked and look... through those Carpathia records...

Not on my computer as I type this... but his name was Dominick Miculian or Mikulian or close to it.

Also another name of interest is Martini (as transcribed earlier) ... which I think was also Martinich as well...

Seems like the Cergnuls, Martini (Martinichs) and Mikuliens (sp?) were all involved with ship crew work... and were related in some way.

Nice work by suanj.

I have also searched with names such as Carnel ... Carniel... Cargnel...or similar...

Suanj,

any suggestions on how I can contact this Eda, I have visited the site but found no clues on how to contact her.

I will try in figure out a way to contact the other people that you sent me their names and phone numbers. I do not know any language other than english, which makes my research even more difficult.

This will be a wonderful find if she is the daughter of Matteo! If any of these people are related it would be wonderful! I have been trying to track down the Cergnul family for many years! Until I found this site I did not think that I was going to get much more information than I had on Giovanni. You guys are GREAT researchers!!!

perhaps is good to remember that:

-when a people is on public directory, this number is public number!
-if I'm on public directory my phone number is public!
- if I don't are an public directory my number is private number
- the italian law is so strong in privacy law, and when I make some thing I make it in right strong privacy law!
so is well to know the laws, especially abt european communty.

Here's an interesting document....

At the bottom right... you will see the name Dominic Miculian (other records show as Mikulian)... this is the person John (Giovanni) Cergnul claims to have travelled with on Nov. 1913 on the Carpathia.

Any volunteers to re-check??

Certificate of Arrival

Please note that from what I can see, the Mikulian (Miculian), Cergnul, Martinich were all connected somehow...

Any help from anyone would be appreciated...

Thank you Kristina for your wonderful recap!

Thank you posting those documents for me Maria... :D

I was looking at the Baptism Record.. I noticed that the word after Josphus Rabor looks like it may not say "Ales"....

Suanj had said that it was Ales meaning Alessandro. But if you look at the last letter and look at some of the other letters to me it does not look like a "S" maybe a "P" or an "F"

Any suggestions?
