The Giovanni census looks like it could be a winner misbris. 1920 census, Johns age is 32 which puts his birth about 1888. What do the letters Em stand for at the far right hand side of the page, same line as his name? Is that his naturalization status? Also, could you make out his wifes name? Looks like Florence, born in Pennsylvania but I'm not sure of her first name.
Sorry I'm editing the post, the first 1920 census has his age listed as 40 so puts his birth about 1880. Can you make out the wifes name on that census?
Great find.

Wife is Florence, so is one of the daughters.
Em means employer. He owns his business.
He arrived 1904 which sounds right, manifests are '03 and '05, and was naturalized in 1914. I didn't look to see if this matches any of Laura's naturalization records. But those are NY records and he is in New Jersey.
On the Giuseppi census wife looks like Angie. I can read children Rose and Anthony, but can't make out the third

Sorry, It was Antonio who posted the naturalization records. The closest one is 1918. He may have started the process in 1914 or have been naturalized in NJ.

misbris -
Antonio posted on page 2 a marriage for Di Dominicis and he found the woman he married. Is there a way to look (on line) at the actual document they filled out or would he have to write to NY state and request a copy? I think that might be the only way to rule this man and woman out.

O.K.
First of all, thanks Misbris and thanks to you all.
Now my observations:
Di Domenico John record, as posted by Misbris:
http://img250.imageshack.us/img250/138/ ... susyn0.gif
- Look if is esact this sequence:
New jersey - County of Camden - Borough of AUDUBON
Ward of city: 2° district - 102, BELOIT AVENUE.
- Near the name there is a sign, it's an "S" for "Senior" or what?
- What means "attended school........1919" - col.16 (education)
- Occupation: BARBER, and followig space (col.27: industry, business or place of work)?
- The wife (Florence) is born in Pensylvania, but has italian origin.
- The first daughter (Mary Victoria) has a sign before the name (>). It means something?
She is born in Pensylvania, the mother's State, this let me think that the family was first in Pen. and after moved to N.J.
- Tha latest two sons have the same name of mother and father.
The other record http://img250.imageshack.us/img250/2355 ... icott3.gif
Is very little leggible for me.

Trying to understand the second record (illegible):
Didomenico John Head, age 40, year of arrival 1895 , taylor, born Italy
Didomenico ??? wife , age 36 year of arr. 1898/1895? , born Italy
Didomenico Rose, daughter, age 18 born New York
Didomenico Elizabeth , daughter , age 17 born New York
Didomenico Anthony, son, age 15, born New York
Laura
The year of arrival seems don't correspond...

Ciao Antonio,
it's only a clue but, just to try to find others way to get to yours relatives, I was searching something about Giovanni's and Giuseppe's friend Romeo Leschernieri (From the first arrival manifest in 1903...)....
Well, I found that this man was coming from Carinola (Arrival in Ellis Island November 17, 1901 the correct last name is Leschermier)
here is the manifest:

I also found the 1910/1920/1930 census for him and his family....
In 1910 he was living in New York (E 106 th Street) occupation carpenter:

In 1920 living in Boston, Massachusetts:

In 1930 living in Boston....

The very interesting fact is that he declared in 1920 and 1930 censuses to work as piano maker in a piano factory.....
I remember Giuseppe/Joseph declared to be a musician in his 1907 arrival... sincerely I connect these two occupations....
So if Romeo Leschermier went from New York to Boston (between 1910 and 1920) maybe also the two Di Dominicis brothers did the same....
Maybe we must search better in Massachusetts...
What do you think about this?

Re: De Dominicis or De Dominico Giovanni - Carinola south It
The S looks like it is a middle initial. Many of the other names have initials after them also. The 3 columns under education are attended school since Sept. 1919. Yes is scratched out and No written. Next columns are can read, can write, answers are yes.
He was a barber and owned his own business.
Mark in front of Mary Victoria means nothing.
In US, children are often given the same names as parents- usually the boy becomes Junior. Girl is more rare, but happens.

On the census that Laura just posted it looks like his brother-in-law was staying with the family can anyone make out his name? Maybe he is Carinola also? Maybe the surname looks familiar Antonio?

In the next days i will go to Carinola and will ask for this man to my parents who lives there and at the municipal office.
Let me loook at your records.

Hi Antonio,
Misbris already got that one for you. It says own shop which means he is the owner of his own barber shop.
Also Antonio - look at the census that Laura just posted for Leschermier and look at the name right below his children, it says brother -in-law but I can't make out the name. Maybe it's a name from Carinola also that your parents might recognize.

OK sorry, i had not understood.
If Leschermier family is at line 65, seems there is no brother in law after the 3 daughters.
There is a brother in law at the bottom of the page but it seems to me that's not Leschermier family, but i can be mistaken!
