Hello, I am from New Orleans, Lousiana and I am looking for information on my Great Great Grandfather Nicolo Lala, he came to New Orleans I believe in 1875. Nicolo Lala is my Grandfather Father Antonino Lala, who had a Grocery Store on Carondlet St. in New Orleans. Looking also for information on the Tamburello family of New Orleans, La. Carolina Tamburello was married Antonino Lala.
If you have any information please let me know

Gallarate suggestion is if the surnames spelling are TOIA; LOSANNA; RIVA; RADAELLI; but I'm no sure that the just spelling are so, why are many italian surnames very similar.. so Riva can be PIVA why, just another thought are the ship's manifest of 1902, line 8
http://ellisisland.org/search/shipManif ... 2730050613

-Luigi PIVA that joining the cousin A. TOIA in New Rochelle, 224 Union Ave, coming from Colico, same travel of Giuseppe Radaelli here mentioned previous from other members...
perhaps can to interest...

The International Genealogical Index is a partial index to vital records from around the world. Some of the information may have come from microfilm copies of the original records. Because the original records may have been updated by the record custodians, you may find additional, more accurate information in the original records. You may also be able to obtain official copies of the original records by contacting the appropriate record custodian, some of whom are listed below.
The above info was copied from this site below...

http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/ ... _hints.asp

Please do call your local Family History Center as they could help you further... have the batch # you found handy...

You will be hearing from me later today!
Have a great day

@ suanj, thanks for your further advise. Records of Luigi PIVA and Giuseppe Radaelli are very interesting (both from Colico..hhmm)

I can't wait until I receive the naturalization recrods of Attilio Toia ... :D

It's reallly close to where my father's maternal (Paduano side) cousins used to live. I checked it up and the address still exists.

It could be either Piva (ellisisland - record of Luigi Piva), Riva (ellisisland - record of Luigi Riva) or Resa (familysearch.org - record of Maria Radaelli spouse of Attilio Toia)..

Once I get more certificates, I'll ask Colico about birth certificate of Mary Radaelli and Attilio Toia.

I called them this morning and they said they can't help me because they only have english records. I'll have to ask a friend of mine living in New Jersey to do a bit of research... this is tough from abroad..

I might take a break from my genealogical research until I get all the certificates. It's frustrating not having much access to information at the moment..

Thank you all for your help and hopefully I'll be back when I have more proper information.. Thank you again!!

Hi Marcailise,

Call your local family history center again. There should have been a misunderstanding. They mean they only have English records there permanently. MOst, if not all, FHC will order microfilm that you request. Take the print out of what you need with you. Go in and order the film. Here in the US it is $3-$4 a roll. After you order it, takes a couple of weeks to come in. Make sure the FHC has a microfilm printer as well as a viewer if you want to make copies of what you find. The equipment varies between centers.

Apparently they need the film number which I don't have .. only the batch number (IGI Individual Record). So don't know what to do. I might call another center to speak to another peson...
