Re: Looking for historical birth records from San Casciano dei Bagni (Siena) before 1860

Between 1815 and 1865 you won’t find the types of records that you will see between 1808 and 1814. Napoleon was hosted in 1814 and Rick keeping went back to the church until 1865. What you will see are simply lists of birth registrations copied from church records.

Re: San Giuliano Nuovo (Alessandria) records

Towns usually only charge the €300 for extracts for citizenship purposes. They can charge the 300 for other documents, but you might try asking for a copy of the original for genealogy purposes and see if they ask for money for that.

An orphan would bear his father or mother surname. And abundant baby would be given an invented name by the town office club. There is lots of information on abandoned babies and fans on my website angelresearch.net.

Re: Desios of Salerno

Italian women do not change their surname on marriage. They often assumed their husband’s surname in another country where this was common. The ship manifest will always always reflect their birth surname.

Re: Italian Naming Conventions

Maria Luigia without a comma between the two names is actually just one name. It may reference to mother, but it may also reference the father.
There are articles on my blog. I’m just the subject.
