Re: Another cause of death revealed

Ciao, Pippo. I really appreciate all the time and effort you've put into this. In the end, is/was such a tragic situation for that family, At one point, I thought that the mother may have also died in the process - maybe in trying to save her daughter? But it looks like that wasn't the case.

Thanks ...

Another cause of death revealed

Hello, Forum-

This record appears to span 5 pages (page 14 of 26 thru page 18 pf 26). Crazy.

Starts midway down on page 14. "A di undici del mese di Settembre..."

You have to be logged in (of course), but just input your response in the Quick Reply field and then hit the Submit button. If you need to add attachments you can also do that, including first using the Preview (button) function.

Re: Interesting cause of death found (rare)

Thanks, mmogno. If anyone is interested, this read is fascinating (Cholera Cemetery at Benabbio, Lucca). My wife's 3x grand aunt would've been one of the 46 deceased between September 13 and October 11, 1855, (as per the above record, she died September 23)...

Interesting cause of death found (rare)

Hello, Forum-

This might be the first time in all of my researching (off and on over a decade) that I have seen this - meaning an actual cause of death in an Italian death record. Can someone please confirm my conclusion/translation (thank you Google Translate for some of the finer points ...

Female landowner and merchant

Hello, Forum-

Not sure if I'm misinterpreting this record or what, but I THINK it shows a female as being a landowner (possidente) and also a merchant (negoziante). Or am I wrong? If not, isn't this quite unusual? Not sure I've ever come across that circumstance before (sad commentary for the time ...

Re: Newly discovered grandfather - Caruso

Fascinating story. Sorry I can't help except perhaps to add that an Ancestry DNA test would likely open more doors than the 23andMe DNA test does (did). Ancestry has a bazillion Trees (and countless related DNA matches), something that 23andMe simply does not provide. I think there's a very good ...

Re: Abandoned Child

This one is too great a challenge for me to translate, but it appears the child was three days ("giorni") old, not years.

Re: Changes to Italian Law on dual passport

Trevisan2 - When you put it in that context it at least makes more sense, but I still do think an interim step (more reasonable cost structure) would've been something that the municipalities could have tried first. Also, maybe there should be a way to separate those who are submitting for ...

Re: Changes to Italian Law on dual passport

In March 2025, I was personally told at the counter of the comune of Vazzola, Treviso that the high prices were to slow down requests for documents.
They are spending so much time on the documents that they can’t get their own work done.

I understand you're only stating the ...

Re: antenati site

I just posted an update to a comune record inquiry on the Immigration, Emigration... sub-forum. Related to that, I'm (almost) starting to wonder if Antenati will somehow soon morph to be come a fee-based web-site. I sure hope not (the existing agreements with the various municipalities for records ...
