Well, it wasn't as bad as I thought, even though it wasn't the result I wanted.
Good news: they don't really care about the female side if you are claiming paternal sides. All they asked for "birth and marriage, birth and marriage, birth and marriage" that's it.
Bad news: Jennabet was right ...

Hello everyone,
To give back to this community that has helped me so much the past 2 years, my appointment is finally coming up tomorrow in Miami and I will be happy to share my process in hopes it'll help others.
I am going paternally back to my great-great grandfather. My "unusuals" that I will ...

Re: Iovine Luongo Grossi
So almost a year later from all of this research and I'm now writing this message from Tufo, AV right now. It turns out that I have more information and research than the comune of Tufo. They do not have any documentation prior to 1860 and when they saw these records I found from LDS, the mayor was ...

Re: James = Giacomo according to the Miami Consulate?
That's good news - about the James = Giacomo, because ammending these documents is impossible for New York, especially when the baptism also reads James.
Yes, he was born 1904 and the people in Maine were very friendly in assisting me and could not find any birth record. Same issue in New York City ...

James = Giacomo according to the Miami Consulate?
Hello everyone,
I have my appointment in a few months, and there are no birth or marriage records available for my great-grandfather, but his official baptism and death read his father's name as James. My great-great grandfather, through whom I'm applying for, has no naturalization records and his ...

Re: Census records and missing documentation
I understand. But as far as unbroken line, I think I can do that. Birth certificates to my great grandfather show parents' names. My great grandfather's death certificate shows his parents' names (my ancestors from Italy), and the Italian documents that I found through familysearch's microfilms ...

Re: Census records and missing documentation
Thank you so much for your response! It might have been the answer I've been worried to see but expected too.
The one baptism certificate I have from my great grandfather is accompanied by a "Letter of no records" for Maine, his birth was never registered. I do have a death certificate of him ...

Re: Missing Birth Record - Italian Ancestor's Wife
I'm in the exact same situation. I'm hoping this is very common and the Italian officials will be understanding about it. I couldn't even locate their marriage record.

Census records and missing documentation
Since the Miami consulate isn't responding, maybe I can get some advice from those here who have been through the Jure Sangurinis process.

Re: Iovine Luongo Grossi
Thanks to the help of the members here especially Marty (thank you so much again) I traced my last name "Iovine" back to the 1780's.
Unfortunately now LDS doesn't have any microfilms from Tufo, AV beyond 1801.
So, where do I go from here to keep tracing back the name? Births or Baptisms in the ...

Re: Iovine Luongo Grossi
So I've been trying to contact the comune di Tufo via email the past month, now that I have the exact dates and parent names I can get the certificates I need to apply for Italian dual citizenship, but they aren't answering.
