Re: Help needed Military record Illinesi
I've made a start here. These military records take some "unpacking" so it won't be perfect. This is sketch of what I'm understanding. I'm sure either Pippo
or mmogno
, who are pros at reading these, will take a look at it some time and make corrections for you. There's a couple of things I will be able to pick up on, hopefully, after a break from it.
29 October 1908 - Conscript First Category Class 1888 District of Piacenza and left in unlimited leave London Consolate
29 October 1908 - Called to service and didn't go because he was abroad
31 March 1909 - Postponed/Deferred? coming to service (as per?) No 9 of the Circular No 3519 of 1908
Called to the army and did not go without justified cause/reason?
1 April 1909 – Something to do with Foreign Service?
1 October 1909 - Declared a deserter, for not having justified, within the said period, of having his position ruled
1 October 1909 – Denounced such at the Military of Piacenza tribunal
11 August 1915 – Past ? At the Dep. Of the 26º Regiment Infantry awaiting trial?
20 August 1915 – Assigned in the 44º Regiment Infantry
12 November 1915 – Assigned in the 73º Regiment Infantry
12 November 1915 – Went in the territory declared in state of war
20 January 1917 – Left from the territory declared state of war because he was sick (because of illness)
11 March 1917 – Following a review he was given extended convalescing/recuperation time of six months
11 September 1917 – Reinstated in the corps
11 November 1917 – Assigned in the Reparto Mitragliatrici Fiat
11 November 1917 – Went in the territory decleared in state of war
19 June 1919 – Assigned in the Reparto Mitragliatrici Fiat Est.
19 June 1919 - Inviato in licenza illimitata attento della Circ. No. 335 del G.M. Del 1919 – I think this is another way of saying that he was posted on unlimited leave giving attention to the said Circular here (ie Circ.No 335 del G.M > Del 1919)?

I missed a little at end:
31 December 1927 He was (definitely?) released from Service on 31 December 1927.
21 November 1929 - He was restored in an unlimited leave position due to legality (27 June 1929, N.1141 Circular Nol 415 of the 1929 military journal). .......?
Campagna di Guerra (War Campaign) 1919???1949??? 1617? Not sure whether this relates to a medal earned, or another matter? Someone else will know.

Re: Help needed Military record Illinesi
Wow Angela. Thanks for this. Interestingly I know he came to London as he married his wife in 1911 (I have very) and they had a son ,my grandad, in 1912. At some point had his second son , in Italy, in 1923. That son is still alive and I hope to catch up with him soon.

Happy to help. Just watch this space as the translation may need some fine tuning. It's not always easy to get military terms correct. It's always good to have two people look at them.

Thank you for checking this, m. So you've just made three adjustments that I can see. Great.mmogno wrote: 15 Nov 2017, 11:02AngelaGrace56 wrote: 14 Nov 2017, 21:32 I've made a start here.
