Hi, everyone!
I've read so many stories here just looking around, and gathered lots of helpful information. I'm hoping someone might be able to look at the general details of my situation and know whether or not myself and my wife/children might be eligible.

Re: Question about eligibility for Italian citizenship by descent
Very shortly, the main issues are
You need to know it your GGF naturalized before your GM was born.
If he wasn't, you have a chance to get your citizenship through a 1948 court case.

Also, since your ggf was a minor when he arrived, you will need to check if his father (your gggf) naturalized while he was still in his minority.

Why a 1948 case?
If the grand-mother had not lost Italian citizenship before, she gave citizenship to her son born in 1960.

Not a 1948 case. It goes through the paternal line until after 1948.

I read that the grandmother was born in 1934 in the USA

Re: Question about eligibility for Italian citizenship by descent
The gm was born to an Italian man in 1934. She had her child after 1948.
The only possible issue is if the ggf naturalized as a minor or as an adult before gm was born.

Re: Question about eligibility for Italian citizenship by descent
Best I can tell, based on a 1920 census document from Ancestry, my GGF naturalized (along with the rest of his family) in 1917 (he would have been 14 or 15).mler wrote: 29 Jun 2023, 22:03 The gm was born to an Italian man in 1934. She had her child after 1948.

Re: Question about eligibility for Italian citizenship by descent
The naturalization of your ggf during his minority (derivative naturalization) eliminates the possibility of applying through his line. Did your ggm naturalize?
Might you have a possibility through your mother’s line?
