Thank you so very much for this information on Giuseppa. It answers the question as to whether or not came over when the other relatives did. May She did come here after her husbands death.

Which husband? She married her second husband, Nicolo’ Patti ten months after first husband Giuseppe Di Prima died. After Nicolo’ died she remarried with Salvatore Di carmine.

But again, thank you. I know have more grand cousins to add to my family.

Very happy to help.

Check here for your grandfather, Cristofaro Rizzo’s syblings: https://www.italiangenealogy.com/forum/ ... 90#p338490

You may not have seen it yet.

Warmest regards, Lucy

P.S. How long have you been doing this and how did you get started? You are fantastic this!

Long story short, almost eight years, but I’d jotted down a lot of information which I got from my parents, years before, and drew up family trees for each of them which I’ve still got. (Basically I wrote down exactly what I heard (phonetically) so some of the spelling of the names were incorrect. (I figured I’d best seize the opportunity and sort out the spelling later.) I was 21 at the time, just married, living in a new city, working full time and didn’t really have time to take it further back then.) After my mum died I felt I wanted to honour her, and dad too, by writing their stories and history (and as a gift to my children too). One day I stumbled across this wonderful forum, nervously signed up, asked some questions and received lots of help and guidance. I could barely read Italian initially because my mother always wrote to me in “her Italian” which consisted of some Italian words, mostly dialect words, and some English words (written phonetically). (I usually got the gist of what she was saying.) I’m so thankful for this forum because I have learned so much here including how to read Italian Civil records (initially by trial and error).

Just wanted to add that while we are always more than happy to help locate and translate records here, I would also encourage you to give locating your own records a try. You get such a buzz when you finally find that record you have been searching for.
